The Nissan Pixo is an upcoming small hatchback model that is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the second half of year 2011. The Japanese carmaker Nissan has tied-up with Suzuki for the development of this new hatchback that will be developed on the base of Maruti Suzuki’s popular hatchback A-Star. The Pixo model will be manufactured in the Indian market and will be exported to a number of other world markets.
According to the industry reports, the new Nissan Pixo model will be carrying some cosmetic changes at both exterior and interior including new grille and upgraded bumpers, while the rest of the specifications and dimension would be kept unchanged. The Pixo is expected to be powered by a 998cc, KB-Series engine along with a five speed manual transmission. The car is expected to be shelved in the price bracket of sub Rs 4 lakh, where it will be competing with the likes of Chevrolet Beat, Maruti Wagon R, Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo.
As per recent media reports, the Pixo will be rolled-out in the Indian market in two variants including India-Visia and Acenta. The launch of Pixo model in the Indian market will further strengthen the company’s portfolio that currently has the likes of including Nissan Micra, Nissan 370Z, and Nissan X-Trail.
Engine and Specifications of the Nissan Pixo
As mentioned above, the Nissan Pixo model is expected to come powered by a 998cc, KB-Series 3 cylinder, all-alloy twelve-valve petrol engine that is compatible with the new Euro V emission norms. The highly efficient petrol engine of the Nissan Pixo would be delivering a maximum power of 67 bhp at 6,200 rpm along with a peak torque of 90 Nm at 3500 rpm. The car will come incorporated with a five speed manual transmission.
The Nissan Pixo model will possibly have an overall length of 3565mm with overall width of 1600mm and height 1470mm. Moreover, the wheelbase and boot space of the car is expected to be about 2360mm and 129 liters, respectively.
Performance of the Nissan Pixo
The new Nissan Pixo model will come compatible with new Euro 5 emission norms, making it a class apart in both mileage and CO2 emission levels. The 1.0L petrol engine of the Maruti A-Star, which is expected to be loaded in the new Nissan Micra, has already proved its worth with delivering a considerably well performance.
Exterior, Interior and Safety Features of the of the Nissan Pixo
Blessed with a spacious interior, the new Nissan Pixo will come equipped with a range of comfort and convenience boosting features including wider seats, Glove box, cup-holder at front seat, foldable rear seats, DIN audio system heating and ventilation, and many more.The exterior of the Pixo will be borrowing many of its styling cues from Maruti A-Star model.
The safety of both car and passengers would be assured by loading the car with a range of highly advanced active and passive safety features including anti-lock braking system (ABS), keyless entry, dual front airbags and side airbags.
