Maybach History

Maybach Company was founded as Luftfahrzeug-Motorenbau GmbH (Aircraft Engine Building Company) in the year 1909. Wilhelm Maybach, a former technical director of the Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) incorporated the venture for manufacturing aircraft engines. Karl Maybach, son of Wilhelm Maybach, was director of this venture.

In 1912, the incorporation was renamed as Maybach-Motorenbau GmbH (Maybach Engine Construction Company), which manufactured diesel and petrol engines for Zeppelins and thereafter, rail cars engines.
