Overall Evaluation of the Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most popular premium hatchbacks in the Indian market and was rolled-out in the country in year 2005. With the launch of Swift hatchback, Maruti marked its debut in the premium hatchback segment. So far, the car has been receiving an overwhelming response from the Indian buyers and more than 5,00,000 units of this car have already been sold in the country.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift model is available in both petrol and diesel versions in the country. While the petrol version comes powered by a 1.2 L, 1197 cc K series engine, the diesel version of the car sports a 1.3L, 1248 cc DDiS engine.  The car has been shelved in the price bracket of 4-5.5 lacs, where it is competing with a range of popular cars in India including Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Nissan Micra, Chevrolet Beat, Skoda Fabia, etc.

Recently, the company had announced to launch a new generation version of Swift in the country by the end of this year. The new age Maruti Suzuki Swift model will not only be carrying a range of new features and up-gradations, but is also expected to carry a much more refined engine with reduced NVH level, enhanced performance and reduced carbon emission.

Engine & Specifications of the Maruti Suzuki Swift

As mentioned above, the Maruti Suzuki Swift model is available in both diesel and petrol versions in the Indian market. The petrol version of the car sports a 1.2 L, 1197 cc K series engine which is capable of generating a peak power of 85 PS at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 113 Nm at 4500 rpm.

On the other hand, the diesel version of the Maruti Suzuki Swift comes equipped with a 1.3 L, 1248 cc DDiS engine which delivers a peak power of 75 PS at 4000 rpm along with a peak torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. Both versions of the car come coupled with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox.

Performance of the Maruti Suzuki Swift

The Maruti Suzuki Swift model has been appreciated throughout the world for its power packed performance. The car offers a segment leading fuel economy in both diesel and petrol versions. While the diesel version of the Swift offers a fuel economy in the range of 16.9 kmpl in the city areas and 19.6 kmpl on the highways, the petrol version delivers a superior mileage of 14.4 kmpl in the city areas and 18.1 kmpl on the highways. The petrol version of the car takes just 13.8 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 kmph. On the other hand, the diesel version of the car takes just 13.2 seconds to reach this mark.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift model carries a robust and stylish look. The major attractions at the exterior of the Swift include curvier headlights, colored bumpers, stylish LED tail lights, alloy wheels and body colored outside mirrors with indicators. Inside, the Maruti Suzuki Swift carries a number of comfort and convenience features including tilt Power Steering, power windows, electric ORVMs, single folding rear bench seats and many more.

Major safety features of the Maruti Suzuki Swift include ABS (Anti lock Braking System) with EBD, halogen headlamps, ELR seat belts , Dual SRS Airbags, and more.
