The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is a Sports Utility Vehicle that was launched in the country towards 2009. The Grand Vitara is the first and the only Maruti Suzuki high end SUV in the Indian market as so far the company was concentrating on the small and mid-size car segment. The Grand Vitara model is currently imported to the Indian market through the CBU (completely built unit ) route, right from the manufacturing units of Suzuki in Japan. The car has been appreciated for its phenomenal design and class-apart style, throughout the world. It has, however, failed to perform as per the expectations in the Indian market, registering moderate sales figures in the country.

The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara model comes equipped with a 2.4 L (2393cc) 4-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC, petrol engine. The engine of the car is blessed with new age VVT (variable valve timing) and ViS technologies. It is capable of delivering a peak power of 163.5 bhp at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 225 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara is available in both manual and automatic transmission options, carrying a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission system.

The Vitara SUV delivers a power packed performance no matters what kind of terrain it is running on, be it city or highway roads or be it uneven terrain of off-roads, thanks to the new age variable valve timing (VVT) technology that ensures higher torque output and considerably lower fuel consumption. The MPFI fuel distribution system further enhances the fuel efficiency of the Vitara and it offers a mileage in the range of 7 to 10 kmpl. The new age 4-wheel-drive system of the car ensures the proper power distribution to the front and rear wheels as per different requirements on different terrains.

The Vitara SUV carries a muscular look with multi-reflector halogen projector head lamps in its flat nose. The front of the car is blessed with features like honey-comb front grille, lower grille and front fog lamps, body colored bumpers, etc. The major attraction of the exterior of the Grand Vitara include body colored OVRMs, 17’’ alloy wheels, long side skirts with body lines, vertically stacked tail lamps cluster, spare tyre, high mounted stop lamp, speed intermittent wiper and washer and rear window demister.
