Mahindra XUV500 Competitor Analysis
The new XUV500 looks a well designed and proportionate SUV and comes with a proven mHAWK engine. It is a feature rich car that comes with an interactive GPS system and other best-in-class facilities that might not be present even in higher priced cars like Koleos and Santa Fe. Some of the other competitors that fall within its price bracket are Toyota Innova and Tata Aria.
The Innova has been in production for quite a while now and is one of the highest selling models of Toyota in India. Without a doubt, it is a spacious MUV with a lot of seating and luggage space. However, it has never been known for its off road capabilities. In cities and on highways it might provide a comfortable run, but its performance has remained somewhat sluggish on hilly terrains. The car does not give enough confidence to the driver on high speeds and turning is quite a task with it. All these difficulties in driving do not make it a vehicle that a car owner would like to drive. On the other hand an XUV500 might tempt people to come on the driver's seat with its four wheel drive and six speed automatic transmission.
XUV500 looks a more proportionate vehicle and performs well both on and off roads. Mahindra has never faced any issues with its engines that provide a reliable performance in long run. However, the same cannot be said about the Tata Aria, another contender in the high-end SUV segment. Though, it comes with a similar displacement engine producing 140 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque, it does not deliver appreciable pickup as the driver presses the accelerator. Moreover, one might find the Cheetah inspired designing of Mahindra XUV500 with muscular wheel arches over the more urbane and formidable than Tata Aria. XUV500 is quite ahead of the market with its features and buyers cannot help but wonder how the company has managed to put all these amenities in Rs. 10-12 Lacs price bracket.
Cars like Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner have also made their presence felt for quite some time, though these have been termed overpriced by one and all. With the launch of Mahindra XUV500 in India, buyers have an excellent alternative. Skoda Yeti is another late entrant and might have crated some interest in the market with its attractive pricing. However, its off road capabilities are not impressive and car remains a little underpowered with its 2 L engine.
Mahindra XUV500 LPG/CNG version
Presently, the company is not launching an LPG/CNG version for this car.
Mahindra XUV500 Pros
At the outset, this car is expected to be a stellar performer and become a favourite of Indian buyers, much like its sibling, Scorpio. However, its driving experience will contribute considerably to the overall opinion of buyers regarding the new XUV500 car.
Mahindra XUV500 Cons
Mahindra XUV500 car seems to be the complete package for buyers who wish to drive a car that is packed with the best features and sports a reasonable price tag. The feature missing in this car is the sun roof, but most Indian buyers can do away without it.
Mahindra XUV500 Conclusion
The car comes as the biggest gift for Indian customers this year from one of its trusted manufacturers. A range of world class features are offered at an unbelievable price range. Undoubtedly, the 2011 Mahindra XUV500 is going to be a hot favourite among Indian buyers.
