Mahindra Quanto is a compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), which has a seating capacity of seven individuals. This vehicle has been built on ladder frame, which has facilitated the auto maker in controlling the overall cost of this model. During normal driving conditions, Quanto delivers a phenomenal fuel efficiency of 17 kmpl, as certified by ARAI, which makes it the most fuel efficient model in its segment. Mahindra Quanto is powered by a new 1.5 litre diesel engine, which produces a power of 100 bhp, along with a 240 Nm of peak torque. Adding to the performance of this performance oriented engine, a 5-speed manual transmission system is doing a great job. However, owing to its high kerb weight of 1640 kg, the model lags on the grounds of acceleration as it moves from 0-100 kmph in 17.41 seconds.
Industry experts believe that styling cues of Quanto, both on exterior front and interior, are borrowed from the Mahindra Xylo. At rear, the model gets a wheel fitted to the rear door, which almost distinguishes it from an over-sized hatchback. A sub-4 metre length helped Quanto to take advantage of lower excise duty, which allowed M&M to price it competitively in the Indian auto market. On the interior, seats are comfortable with sufficient headroom for all the passengers. The Quanto, with its ample seating space and high fuel efficiency, is a worthy competitor in the compact SUV segment of the Indian auto market.
