Hyundai i40

Hyundai Motor Company based in Korea is the fourth largest car manufacturer across the globe. The prestigious automaker has unveiled Hyundai i40 concept at the international automotive event, Geneva Motor Show 2011. The concept shares platform with previously launched hatchbacks, including the i10, i20 and i30. The Korean car maker is initially targeting European markets and will be launching Hyundai i40 based on the concept in 2012. Hyundai i40 is expected to be launched in two variants each of petrol and diesel versions.

The i40 concept was known by the codename ‘VF’ during its development phase. With Hyundai i40, Korean automaker will introduce Blue Drive eco-program along with powertrain line-up for the first time. These technologies help enhance fuel efficiency, on-road performance along with reducing level of CO2 emissions. In D-segment of hatchbacks, Hyundai i40 will challenge the likes of Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat. Designed and engineered in Germany research premises of Hyundai Motors Company, Hyundai i40 has resemblance with Hyundai Sonata. As per official sources, it will be available as a sedan as well as a wagon.

Engines & Specifications of Hyundai i40

Hyundai enthusiasts will be provided with an option to choose Hyundai i40 petrol and diesel version in two engine options. Petrol powered Hyundai i40 will be loaded with an advanced 2.0-litre direct-injection, four-cylinder engine that delivers maximum power of 170 hp. Whereas, diesel powered Hyundai i40 will be equipped with 1.7-litre turbodiesel engine that has capability to deliver maximum power ranging between 115 hp and 136 hp.

Hyundai i40 will be loaded with 1.7-litre turbodiesel that delivers creditable economy along with fine on-road performance. Gearbox of the car has well-spaced ratio for smooth gear shifting. On the parameters of performance and fuel-efficiency, engine has competitive edge over its rival models from Chevrolet and Toyota.
