These cars range from a 3-door hatchback to a convertible. The 1 series cars were introduced with an aim of lowering the entry-level cost of the BMW cars. Ever since its launch, the 1 series cars have gained popularity owing to combination of the build quality of BMW and an affordable price. This has helped BMW to get a larger market share and have a wide variety of cars ranging from the 1 series to the 7 series as well as the M, X and Z series.
Upon launching the second-generation model of the 1 series hatchback (5-door) in September 2011, BMW is planning of bringing it to India by early 2012. The Indian automobile market is brimming with hatchbacks, which is the most volume-generating segment in terms of sales. The 1 series hatchback, the only one offered by the German carmaker, will be the smallest and cheapest BMW car in India.
The entry-level cars of BMW, the 1 series cars, are the most value for money BMW cars. Providing BMW's world renowned driving pleasure and advanced features at an affordable price, new BMW 1 series cars are immensely popular. Just like, some of the other 'series' of BMW cars, 1 series includes a 3-door and 5-door hatchback, a coupé and convertible as well. BMW also offers an electric coupé version in the 1 series cars, called as Active E.
Hatchbacks in the BMW 1 series are the only ones offered by the German luxury car manufacturers. Despite being small cars, the 3-door as well as 5-door hatchbacks offer almost all the attributes of a BMW car. These include advanced comfort, convenience, safety and security features apart from the driving pleasure that luxury BMW cars are well renowned for. The German car manufacturer ventured into the hatchback segment around 7 years ago and since then has enjoyed tremendous success and popularity for its small cars among the buyers.
Launch Historyof BMW 1-Series
Launched in 2004, the first car in the BMW 1 series was the 5-door hatchback. Being the first hatch to be offered by the luxury automobile manufacturer, the car was well received in the market. However, with an aim of providing more variety, BMW, in 2007, introduced other versions of the 1 series, namely coupé, convertible and 3-door hatchback. These cars were also well reviewed in the media and markets alike and extended the variety offered by BMW 1 seriescars.
Recently, in September 2011, BMW unveiled the second generation of the 5-door hatchback of the 1 series at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Amidst much fanfare, the new hatchback was well received by the media and audience. In addition to that, other versions of the 2012 BMW 1 series, the coupé and the convertible would also be introduced. Apart from that, the M version of the BMW 1 series hatchback will be introduced by March 2012.
Variants (Models)of BMW 1-Series
BMW 1 series has 5 different models, including a 3-door hatchback, a 5-door hatchback, a coupé, a convertible and an electric coupé. Among these, it is expected that BMW would first launch the 5-door hatchback in the Indian market and then follow it by other versions depending upon the sales performance.
The second-generation 5-door hatchback of the BMW 1 series will be offered in five variants with different engines including 2 petrol and 3 diesel ones.
Pricingof BMW 1-Series
The price of the new 1 series India 5-door hatchback can be expected to be in the range of Rs. 14 lacs to Rs. 19 lacs in the Indian market.
Reviewof BMW 1-Series

When BMW announced about its upcoming 2012 1 series 5-door hatchback, people waited with a baited breath. The German luxury carmaker unveiled its new premium luxury small car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011. At that show, the car was praised for its beautiful design as well as new more efficient engines and advanced features.
