New Audi Car Dealers and Audi Showrooms in India

Audi Dealerships

Audi has captured a significant market share worldwide since its inception in 1909, but its entry to the Indian market has been only recently. Although Audi had been selling cars in India since 2004, the German car-manufacturing giant entered the Indian automobile market formally only in 2007 setting up Audi dealerships throughout the country. Realizing India’s rising potential as an economic superpower, Audi set up its own sales company as a subsidiary of Volkswagen India in Mumbai and thus entered the fray in full swing. Audi’s premium luxury cars are targeted at the elite upper class consumers and sold through Audi dealerships across the country.

Audi models currently available in the Indian market include luxury models such as A4, A6, A8, Q5, Q7 and also sports models like the R8 and TT. Most Audi cars are imported as completed units from overseas. Some units however, like the A4 and A6 and since recently the Q5 also, are imported as parts, and then assembled at Skoda Auto’s plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. All these Audi models are sold in through Audi’s dealerships in the country.

There is a wide network of Audi dealers in India. Some famous Audi dealers in the country are Jubilant Enpro in Chennai and Bangalore, Patel Cars in Kochi, Euro Motors Private Limited in Delhi, Island City Motors in Mumbai and Imperial Auto in Kolkatta. Audi’s dealership network has recently grown to semi-metropolitan cities such as Coimbatore, Indore, Lucknow, and Surat.

The used car market for Audi in India has relatively less demand, as prospective buyers are driven away by the huge price tag that comes with even used Audi cars and the market is a niche one. However, recent reports suggest that Audi India plans to enter the used car business by 2011, leveraging Audi showrooms across the country. This would indeed go a long away in boosting sales of used Audi cars. Such used Audi cars would have gone through strict tests of safety and performance and are bound to be certified automobiles. We can hopefully see Audi used car dealerships in the country soon.
