It is hard to believe that a needle making company at Hunt End, England would later proceed to launch one of the most coveted motorcycles of the world .True the royal Enfield is one of the most revered bike makers of the world .it was in the year 1909 that Royal Enfield took the biking world by surprise when they displayed a small 21/4hpv two engine machine built in Swiss tradition, which ran very well. But it was during the First world war in 1914 that royal Enfield got the call for supplying motorcycles to the British war development .It was only in this period that it started producing it’s own engine ,a 225cc two stroked single and 425 cc v-twin .Post war a larger 976cc twin was still being produced at a greater number. The models of this period have the typical features 600cc, inlet-over-exhaust, closed valve gear, hand operated oil pump, and two -speed countershaft gear box .The 1915 make 675 cc was the first with a configuration of 3 cylinder ,2 stroke prototype .

 

Royal Enfield has launched many successful models .Some of its most popular models are Classic 500, Classic 350 and Thunder bird Twins Park. Bullet Electra55, Bullet 350.

 

The Classic 500 is one of the most successful models as it has some of the most brilliant features like Single Cylinder, 4 Stoke, OHV, air cooled. Classic 350 is most popularly called the smaller twin of the previous one. It has more or less same features as the Classic 500. Thunderbird-has its key feature as Dual spark Ignition Engine.
