Just wanted to know, if premium diesel can be used in Tata Safari, Dicor,BS-4 engine. I am referring to Speed brand of Diesel available in Delhi or other metros. Does it harm the engine, if used? Does it have any change in mileage?

Tata Safari Mileage
Tata Safari, has always been a very popular selling SUV. Initially, Tata Safari`s mileage was a bit of an issue but later on the company had introduced 3.0 litre and 2.2 litre DICOR engine options with an intention to improve the mileage figures.
Presently, Only 2.2-litre 16 valve, Variable Turbine Technology (VTT) diesel variant of Tata Safari is available. The 2179cc Direct Injection Common Rail (DICOR) engine with five-speed manual gearbox transmission option has the capacity to churn out peak power of 140 bhp at 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 320 NM at a range of 1700 to 2700 rpm. The present generation engine deployed in the Tata Safari claims better fuel effecienct along with superior performance.
The car is available in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options with BS III and BS IV emission norms. Tata Safari`s mileage ranges from 11 KMPL in city to 15 KMPL on highways for 2WD and 10.45 KMPL in city to 15.5 KMPL on highways for 4WD.
