Mileage seems to be good (14 kmpl) but the mileage of the first model at 8 kmpl isn't too pleasent

Hello, I have a grand vitara XL-7, of 2005, its only 17500, km driven becoz it is giving only 5 to 6 km per ltd, and its really tearable for me so some time i m thinking its better to drive my sedan car. n or if u have any other option 4 better millage kindly suggest me.

Maruti Grand Vitara Mileage
The Maruti Grand Vitara is a CBU (Completely Built Unit) SUV of leading automobile manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India. The car is available in both manual and automatic transmission gearbox system, and both versions of the Maruti Grand Vitara are good in their respective mileage.
The Maruti Grand Vitara is equipped with a 1.2 liter DOHC petrol engine with Variable Induction System (VIS). Along with that the company has also launched an advanced version of Maruti Grand Vitara, which is equipped with 2.4 liter engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) with displacement of 2393 cc with four cylinder and 16 valve. The heavy engines and the car’s large weight place a damper on the Maruti Grand Vitara’s mileage.
Furthermore, the MPFI fuel distribution system does play an important role in the Maruti Grand Vitara mileage. All in all, the Maruti Grand Vitara gives a mileage of 7 km per liter in city and 10 km per liter in highways
