u can improve the mileage by reducing the amount of fuel entering in to the engine. that can be done by pressing the acclerator pad to a very low extent. switch on the gear in such a way that u press the acclerator pad to a little extent.
In downals try to move the vehicle in neutral......

I love Santro for the design and power. But as far as mileage it is the worst car in its range. If you get 11 to 12 you feel lucky. I had XG model which was giving only 9 kms per litre with AC. Can someone tell me whether the new xing erlx version is better in mileage??

This car gives a mileage of 13 in city and upto 17 on highways (both figures without AC) with a conservative foot on the gas pedal. If the car is ripped it wil lreturn 11 in city and 15-16 in the highways. To improve the mileage of the car, ensure that the airfilter is clean, it is advisable to be gradual on acceleration and to follow a sedate driving style.
