Chevrolet is one of the noted names in car making industry, which has been in the business for around a century now. Chevrolet Lumina is one of the most popular sedans of the car maker that was initially introduced in 1989. The model was launched to counter Ford Taurus in North America, which had the longest length from any other W-body car during that era.
General Motors India Private Limited, Indian subsidiary of Chevrolet is all set to unveil Chevrolet Lumina in D+ segment of sedans, after establishing itself in hatchback, sedan and utility vehicle segments in India. The model designed for Indian conditions is expected to be powered by 3.6 L petrol engine that has an excellent power and delivers exceptional on-road performance.
Engines & Specifications of Chevrolet Lumina
The upcoming Chevrolet Lumina will be assimilated with a new generation 3.6 litres, DOHC, CVVT, V6 powertrain. This engine has capacity to deliver power output of 241 hp at 6500 rpm and has maximum torque of 335 Nm at 2400 rpm. This efficient engine is supported by 4-speed automatic gearbox.
Performance of Chevrolet Lumina
Chevrolet Lumina equipped with sport-tuned suspension and smooth transmission setup, delivers excellent on-road performance. This four-door sedan cruises without any noise at 120 kmph. Further, acceleration till 180 kmph can be achieved without much of a handling trouble. For controlled drive, it will have an advance anti-lock braking mechanism along with four-wheel disc brakes. Moreover, the car will be assimilated with light steering wheel that simplifies handling of the car at higher speeds. Lumina will come fitted with 245/45 tyres wrapped over 18-inch rims that grips the road quite well.
Exterior, Interior & Safety Features of Chevrolet Lumina
The D+ segment vehicle has conservative appearance, with front portion bagging Chevy logo at centre of single chrome slat grille. The horizontally placed projector headlights and box shaped front lower grille with black background defines front of the car. Body shaded door handles and 17-inch alloy wheel / 18-inch alloy wheels make up side profile of this sedan. On the other hand, rear profile has sporty spoilers and tail lamp cluster as highlights.
The sporty interiors of the sedan are designed and decorated using high quality material and elements, such as rubbery padded finish on door sills, armrests and dashboard. Its sporty seats that are well-bolstered and feature embroidered SS trimmings along with two-tone patterned upholstery are interiors highlights.
To ensure comfort, seating can be power-operated with lumbar support adjustments. Two uncovered cup-holders in the front, doors pockets, controls mounted on centre console and user-friendly audio console are other notable interior features. In context of safety, Chevrolet Lumina will be featuring traction control system, safety airbags at the front, seat belt pretensioners, fog lamps, electronic stability program and force limiting seat belts.
