All of them! Audi caters to demands from all segments and attributes its sales volumes especially in Mumbai to patronage from the Bollywood stars. Katrina Kaif, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bacchan, Bipasha Basu, Neil Nitin Mukesh, each one of them owns an Audi model. Salman recently bought an Audi A8 that ranges from Rs. 71 lakh to Rs. 1 crore in India.

"Quite a few Bollywood stars have picked up Audi cars in India. Whether it is Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan or Katrina Kaif - each of them has one Audi parked in their garage," Martin Birkner, marketing head of Audi in India, said. "I won't say they make a major market for us, but they certainly are an important market for Audi, at least in Mumbai."

Audi currently has 7 products in its Indian portfolio of which A4 and A6 are assembled in India. All other models are directly imported from the German plant. Audi now intends to increase its sales volumes in India for which it has to price its products competitively. It intends to assemble more models in India which will alleviate the 104 percent import duty on the models and make them way cheaper than their current price tag.
