Volvo to Bring S90 to India
Volvo Auto India is planning to introduce its new sedan model S90 in the Indian auto market which will be a Euro V-compliant, twin-turbo, diesel powered model. “The Indian luxury car market, comprising cars priced above Rs 24-25 lakh, has grown at 11% this year while Volvo Auto India has grown at 16%,” said Paul de Voijs, Managing Director of Volvo Auto India. The company sold 900 cars last year and expects to beat the 10% increase it had earlier projected for this year. He also stated that fresh new S80 sedans have already being shipped for the Indian shores and will reach India by Delhi Auto Expo in January 2010.
Surprisingly, Volvo Auto India will not be present at the Delhi Auto Expo. It intends to focus on launching new models in India like bringing XC60 to India in first half for 2010. It is a cross over vehicle that falls in “small premium utility” vehicle in the international market. Volvo intends to strengthen its product portfolio in India and also expand its dealer network to register better sales across the country.
Volvo S60 is yet another sedan that will be introduced in India by end of 2010.
