Volvo Car India had been successful with its trucks and buses in India. It has now plans to capture the Indian passenger car market with equal vigour. It plans to set up a profitable venture in next 24 months but is not looking at volumes right now. Initially, it is looking at selling 500 cars annually. It has started its operations with Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab and aims to set up eight dealership networks this year. It is happy with a list of more than 80 dealers lined up to sell Volvo cars in India.

Volvo cars are one of the well-known cars for their safety features. It also offers more customisation to its cars than any other car maker. It has 40 exterior and 15 interior combinations. It latest C70 model is one to reckon to know that Volvo has especially paid attention to design and style in its new cars for India.

Volvo has recently received a nod from the government to invest $275 million in its joint venture with Eicher Motors Ltd. The company has six models lined up in its product portfolio for the Indian auto market. After its dealerships in Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh, it now plans to open eight more dealerships in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, etc.
