Volkswagen Polo Gets “Car of the Year” Award in Europe
Volkswagen launched its latest small car model VW Polo at the Delhi Auto Expo. The car will be available at the dealerships from first week of March. The car has already generated quite an interest amongst the Indian buyers and it has received rave reviews in Europe as well. The new VW Polo was a huge draw at the Delhi Auto Expo at the VW pavilion.
Now the model has bagged the most coveted “European Car of the Year” award for 2010. It raced ahead of Toyota iQ marginally by 10 points to bag the award. VW Polo emerges as the first winner in 18 years from company’s product line up when VW Golf won the award in 1992. So far Volkswagen has been nominated 11 times for the award but has won only twice till date. The annual Car of the Year award is administered by a group of Europe's largest motoring publications.
Third place went to the new version of Vauxhall's Astra hatchback and fourth to the Skoda Yeti, with the Mercedes-Benz E-class, Peugeot 3008 and Citroën C3 Picasso respectively completing the seven shortlisted cars.
Now the Indian customers are definitely waiting for this all-round winner from Europe that hits the Indian market soon.

I am also keenly waiting for VW POLO and am very much interested for a buy. Before that I just want to make sure that Polo's performance in all respects is better than its equivalent models existing in India. As I have been using Maruti's Swift VDI (Diesel) model since 2006 and very much satisfied with its performance and comfort except service part which costs a little bit higher. Can any one guide me whether Polo will come with higher engine (cc) in India then Swift (1.3 ltr.). I have heard that VW will launch Polo model in hatchback model first with 1.2 ltr. diesel engine. If this is the position, I think this polo is then underpowered. From some sources I have also heard that POLO in sedan will be launced later in 2010 with 1.6 ltr. diesel, which no doubt will be a model, worth waiting. Can some body enlighten me with the facts. Thanks.
