TVS Plans a New 200cc Bike for India
TVS Motors is one of the leading two wheeler manufacturers in India. The company is planning to launch 200cc motorcycle in India in near future. It is quite a lucrative segment where other prominent auto makers like Hero Honda, Honda Motorcycles, Bajaj Auto etc already mark their presence. Hero Honda Karizma and Bajaj Pulsar are already top runners in this segment.
'On an average, nearly 4000 units of 200cc bikes are rolled each month. Though it’s a small volumes segment, we will definitely be in it. However, the volumes will come from the 100-110cc segment only,' said HS Goindi, President (Marketing), TVS Motors. He also stated that the company is also open to international tie-ups like Bajaj has with Kawasaki.
TVS Motors has already sought approval from the Supreme Court for its twin-spark technology and hopes that its model Flame DTs 125cc bike will spell volumes for the company and boost company sales. By the end of 2010, TVS Motors hopes to clock monthly sales figure of 8000 unit of Flame DTS 125cc.
