It is to be mentioned here that TVS crashed out of the top three with a considerable surge in the sales of Bajaj auto and Honda Motorcycles.
TVS is planning to roll-pout a number of new products in the Indian market to compete more promptly with the rivals. The company is currently planning an investment of Rs 300-400 crore on the development of new products as well as upgrading the current line-up.
Speaking on the development, president NPI, TVS Motor Company, Mr. Vinay Harne, said, "Currently we produce only up to 180 cc and below and we will be entering the bigger bike segment. There is a trend of moving towards bigger bikes; while the numbers are small, the growth is quite high." He added, "We have done a lot of things to reduce costs-used cost-effective material, reduced weight, adopted a low-cost manufacturing process, and the whole controller is locally developed."
