Toyota is planning to regain its customer trust and seeks to rebuild its integrity in the market. The company will reveal more details about the current car problems than it is legally required to make. The company has already recalled more than 8.5 million cars around the world and is facing tough situation related to the braking problems in its various models.

According to the company spokesperson it would announce details of the disclosure plan in the near future. Company spokeswoman Ririko Takeuchi said Toyota will disclose problems that are below recall-level seriousness. “Some consumers are worried, so even if the information doesn't rise to the level of a recall, we are taking this step to restore the company's credibility,” she said.

Meanwhile, in the US market the company is facing a series of lawsuits which not only includes the brake fault problems but also lawsuits from people who have experienced plummeting resale value of their cars. 22 law firms in 16 states have filed lawsuits against the company where Toyota vehicle owners are chasing financial compensation as a result of the crisis.

  • In the interest of full disclosure my 86 Toyota experienced runaway acceleration. It was not caused by the floor mat. It was not caused by a stuck accelerator pedal. The electronic controls need to be replaced. I notified Toyota but the company did not reply. I presume that driving a car out of warranty is justifiable homicide.
