08 January, 2010, 10:10 IST by Quraish Umrethi

Toyota Prius leads the range of hybrid cars that were introduced at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. The recent Toyota Prius images for India reveal that the car is definitely a tough competition to the existing range of cars especially those that run on fossil fuel. In the range of green cars, Toyota Prius is competitively priced in the range of Rs. 26.5 lakh – Rs. 27.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

“Through the launch of Prius, Toyota is keen to demonstrate its commitment to offer the latest eco-friendly automotive technology to its customers in India,” said Sandeep Singh, deputy MD, Toyota.

Toyota Prius introduced in India is the third generation model powered by 1.8 litre petrol engine and a battery of 60 kilowatt will have three driving mode — power mode, eco mode and electric vehicle mode (battery). Toyota Prius was first introduced in 1997 as a mass produced hybrid vehicle but was an instant success with total sales figures reaching around 1.5 million till now. We will continue to popularise environmentally friendly vehicles in India to further our efforts to help save the environment,” Singh added further.
