Toyota Counting on Etios for Sales
It’s tough times for Toyota who badly needs good news today. Still, Toyota has announced that India sales will remain unaffected even after the global recall of its cars. Toyota Kirloskar Motors is expecting to double its sales in next five year. "For us to become a significant player in the volume market segment, we need at least 10 percent market share and we expect to achieve that in the next five to seven years," managing director Hiroshi Nakagawa said in an interview.
Toyota hopes to churn out volumes as it finally launches its small car Toyota Etios. The company will also launch a sedan version of the car later in the year. Toyota Etios compact car model has been specifically designed for the Indian market and was showcased at the recent Delhi Auto Expo. The new car will compete against Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20 and Tata Manza.
The company remains quite confident about quality of its cars in India as it has not recalled any of its cars in the country. "This is a good chance for us to review quality related activities in India. We are undertaking a review of our quality processes," he said.
