Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM), which has seen tremendous success with all of its cars, be it the Qualis, its successor Innova or the recently launched Etios, is all set to launch the Avanza, the new Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) in the Indian automobile market in early 2012.
Toyota already enjoys a chunk share of the Indian automobile scene with an impressive line-up ranging from the recently launched hatch,Liva to the massive off-roader,Land Cruiser. Avanza would be an impressive addition to this already successful range.
Avanza, which shares quite a few features with the Toyota Innova, has a stylish appearance. The unique Toyota front grill and new bumper design are particularly eye-catchy. Besides exterior alterations, new features will also be introduced in the Avanza. This would include a digital instrument panel, which would enable the driver to get more precise and clear view of information regarding the vehicle’s speed and power.

Toyota Avanza
Toyota Avanza will be powered with a 1.5 litre 4-cylinder 16 valve petrol engine, which generates maximum power output of 109 PS and a high torque of 141 Nm at 4400 rpm. In addition to that, the MPV will be very fuel efficient with an expected mileage of 15.8 kmpl. It is expected to have improved acceleration, better fuel economy, impressive power and torque courtesy Toyota`s Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) technology.
According to the industry experts, Avanza would be a great performer on extended highway drives. The Toyota Innova has already set unprecedented benchmark of highway performance. Avanza would continue the good work and maintain the built-to-last reputation of Toyota cars.
Even though smaller than Innova, the Avanza would be big enough to be a 7-seater. It would compete in the relatively new segment in India, of the compact MPV, and is expected to be in the price range of Rs.6 lacs to Rs.8 lacs .Initially only petrol varians would be launched . Toyota seems to have no plans to introduce a diesel variant of Avanza. However, industry experts suggest that, going by the growing demand for diesel cars in the Indian market, the Avanza diesel would be a runaway success.
Toyota Company might unveil the Avanza MPV to the public at the 11th Auto Expo to be held in New Delhi in January 2012. The Auto Expo would give the Toyota Company the best platform to showcase their all new MPV Avanza. Earlier, the Etios sedan and Etios Liva hatchback were first revealed to the public at the 10th Auto Expo held in January 2010. Both of the cars were received very well by the public and the media and Toyota is expecting same for Avanza.
