Tata Nano Electric to Debut in Europe
Tata Motors will introduce the electric variant of its ultra-cheap car Tata Nano in the European market in next 30 months. Tata Motors has not revealed the exact timeline for the schedule of the car but said that the model will also be available in the domestic market within the time frame of next two-and-half years. The final price of the model will also be revealed at the time of the launch.
"The electric Nano will be launched in Europe in two-and- a-half years and it will be launched in select markets like Britain and the Scandinavian countries first, and gradually in other nations," said Ravi Kant, Tata Motors vice-chairman at the Geneva Motor Show. Tata Nano Electric will be powered by super polymer lithium ion batteries and is expected to have a maximum range of 160 km with an acceleration of 0-60 kmph in 10 seconds.
Tata Motors will furthermore be introducing the electric variants of Tata Indica Vista this year in the UK market. "The Indica Vista EV will be introduced in select European countries, beginning this year. We will progressively introduce electric vehicles in all relevant markets," he said. On the other hand, Nano Europa will be launched in the European market in subsequent next two years and will be exported from India.
