Tata Motors scores cumulative global sales of 96,089 units in May 2012

Tata Motors Group, the Indian multinational automobile company, reported its worldwide consolidated sales of 96,089 units in May 2012, including the Jaguar Land Rover brand. When compared to the same period last year, its sales marked a growth of 12 per cent. On the other hand, the total sales of the company for the fiscal stand at 182,466 units, which represents an increase of 7 per cent against the year-ago period.

The worldwide sales of all Tata Motors commercial vehicles, including Tata, Tata Daewoo and Tata Hispano Carrocera ranges, stood at 45,025 units for May 2012, which showed a growth of 3 per cent. Overall sales in the financial year are 83,033 units, a decline of 2 per cent over the same period last year.

As far as the worldwide sales in passenger vehicles segment are concerned, the figure stood at 51,064 units during May 2012, which surged by 21 per cent. The total sales in the fiscal are 99,433 units with a growth of 16 per cent. During the period, the worldwide sales of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicles were 20,970 units, which marked an increase of 6 per cent against May 2011. The total sales in the fiscal remained consistent with 44,196 units.

In May 2012, the worldwide sales of Jaguar Land Rover stood at 30,094 units with an increase of 35 per cent over May 2011. The boost in sales volumes was mainly spearheaded by Range Rover Evoque and 12MY Jaguar. Sales of Jaguar in May 2012 stood at 4,342 units, which marked an increase of 3 per cent, whereas the sales of Land Rover clocked 25,752 units, with an increase of 42 per cent. For the fiscal, the consolidated sales of Jaguar Land Rover stood at 55,237 units, which represent a growth of 32 per cent. The cumulative sales of Jaguar stood at 7,945 units with an increase of 9 per cent, whereas Land Rover’s cumulative sales are 47,292 units, an increase of 37 per cent.
