Autocar India reports spotting the premium sedan from Suzuki, the Kizashi, on the Indian roads. According to the recent pictures from Autocar India, it spotted a black Kizashi sedan in Pune bearing an HR number plate. Pune is the city housing the ARAI which gives certificate for the cars to be suitable for Indian roads. The car is expected to be in Pune to get homologation clearances from the ARAI before it is finally available commercially.

Kizashi has been reported to be more stable and deliver better driving experience than the Toyota Camry or Accord. Maruti intends to place the car between Honda Civic and Accord with an expected price tag of Rs. 17 lakh. The model is rumoured to be imported as a CBU which will make it pricier. Its USP for the Indian market will be sportier looks and premium driving pleasure. MSIL may bring a diesel variant soon followed by a petrol one.

  • TO COMPETE AGAINST CAMRY, CIVIC, ACCORD, SUPERB & CRUZE THOSE ENJOY BETTER BRAND VALUE IN THE D-SEGMENT, KIZASHI NEEDS TO BE NOT ONLY DIFFERENT BUT ALSO SPECIAL. AWD OUGHT TO BE O/E AND STANDARD FOR ALL VARIANTS. FRUGAL DIESEL ENGINE SIMILAR TO THE MULTI-JET WILL BE MORE ATTRACTIVE FOR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS WHO BUY BIG CARS MAINLY FOR LONG DISTANCE TRAVEL. PETROL ENGINED KIZASHI COULD EASILY FAIL IN INDIAN MARKET. KIZASHI PRICED ABOVE 10-11 LAKHS WILL CERTAINLY BE PROHIBITIVE FOR THE INDIAN BUYER WHO MIGHT AS WELL GO FOR A PROVEN CAR OUT OF THE STABLES OF VW,GM,SKODA, TOYOTA,& OF COURSE HONDA FOR THAT KIND OF MONEY. HOPEFULLY, THE EXPERIENCE OF BALENO, A GOOD CAR THAT DID NOT CLICK DUE TO WRONG (HIGH) PRICING DOES NOT BEFALL UPON KIZASHI. THE WEAKEST POINT IN MARUTI CARS IS THE SUSPENSION. A HEAVY CAR LIKE KIZASHI SHOULD BE FITTED WITH STRONG AND "DURABLE" SUSPENSION TO NEGOTIATE POTHOLE-RIDDEN ROADS OF INDIA WITHOUT RUFFLING THE PASSENGERS.

  • Overseas,it competed directly with the Volkswagen Jetta, and European version of the Honda Accord, although both are better sellers than this.
