Skoda Planning To Shift Fabia Production
Skoda Fabia shall be on roads some time in the middle of the next year. Currently it is being manufactured at the Aurangabad plant by Skoda. Now it is planning to shift its complete manufacturing operations of Fabia to the parent company’s new plant coming up in Chakan near Pune.
Skoda has already announced its expansion plans in India. It has increased its investments from Rs 2500 crores to Rs 3500 crores. Most of this investment shall be made in the manufacturing unit that VW is building in Pune.

"There is a lot of similarity between the Fabia and the Polo as both models are built on the same platform. We will look to have the Fabia built there," said Thomas Kuehl, Member, Board of Directors for Sales and Marketing, Skoda India.
The new Volkswagen plant in Chakan shall be completed only in the first half of 2009 and Fabia is also set to roll out from the Skoda plant around the same time. Fabia is the new hatchback model from Skoda that would have the 1.2 litre petrol engine. VW shall also launch its Polo next year which is also hatch back model and is quite similar to Fabia.
