Royal Enfield Bikes Get Pricier from April 2010
Royal Enfield bikes in India will get expensive from April 2010 when the new emission norms come into effect. The company is currently actively working on upgrading its models according to the new BS III And BS IV norms. “Most definitely the new bikes will be expensive. The new engines will be of a different caliber and that will make them expensive," Eicher Motors Managing Director and CEO Siddhartha Lal. However, he did not divulge any further details about the quantum of hike or the prospective date of hike. Currently, a Royal Enfield bike costs Rs. 1 lakh in India.
The company currently sells Royal Enfield Classic, Classic 500, Thunderbird, Machismo and Electra brands in the country. Royal Enfield Classic 500 is one of the most successful models where the company still has pending orders of at least 3000 units in the domestic market and 2000 units for the export markets. According to the Royal Enfield MD, the pending backlog will be cleared in a span of next five months. The company has already delivered 1000 units of Classic 500 since November 2009.
Royal Enfield plans to invest at least Rs. 100 cr to expand manufacturing capacity. It currently has a capacity of manufacture 60,000 units at its Chennai facility which will be expanded to 100,000 units annually.

i dont understand y RE is planing to increase the pries now.. there r very few who go for a first hand bullet cos those who r RE lovers they prefer old classic which they can get 2nd hand which can cost them max to max 50.000/-. and those who r left in minorities who go for a new cos, they love to have a bullet but they dont want a 2nd hand tag on it, but they forget that the real fun of riding a bullet is to have a the oldest heavy model, cos the engines which were built earlier was the best in all terms( all who r riding the old models will know better what im talking about).. And 1 more thing, the most important part of bullet is the "FIRING" of the bullet, which u dont get in todays model,, so Y to spend a more then lack and ride a copY of a bullet where u can get actual bullet in maximum 50,000/-, the only catch in this is "its a 2nd hand bullet" but dont u think the person who will be selling his bullet will be so cairfull enough to maintain his bullet.......... think about this next when u see new bullet in a show room and a 2nd hand bullet on the road .....

I am a proud owner of the 1st classic in karnataka. The mileage of a classic varies from 28-34 km per liter in the city. It varies because every RE Classic behaves differently. The company claims 39 thru an external evaluator - but i wonder how. Watch my blog for further reviews on the classic. cheers ady

Hi, I am planning to buy one Bullet 500 Classic by Aug. this year. I would like to know the performance and Petrol mileage of the vehicle. I had owned one Bullet Deluxe from 1995 until 2000. Unfortunately, I have replaced with Hero Honda Splendor. I am not stisfied with the new generation bikes they are only for show. Kindly advice...
