Renault Sandero Hatchback Model to be Launched
The partnership between the Indian auto maker, Mahindra and Mahindra, and the French automobile manufacturer, Renault, is once again mulling to bring a new car model to India. This time the French automaker, Renault is planning to launch its hatchback model Sandero in the country.
Mahindra and Renault had earlier launched Mahindra Logan in India which has become a popular small family car. Now the two companies intend to bring their hatchback model and plan to use their Nashik manufacturing facility to assemble the car locally. However, there is no official word from Mahindra regarding the same. “Nothing has been decided as yet. Talks are at a preliminary stage,” said Pawan Goenka of Mahindra.
Sandero is expected to be a “high volume car” for both the companies. It will be built on Logan platform and will be available in petrol as well diesel models. Renault has currently frozen its manufacturing schedules in Chennai where it has a joint venture with Nissan Motors. However, Nissan still plans to roll out its cars as per the schedule.
