Abarth has launched yet another high performance Fiat 500 for “private drivers and young people who want to show their worth in a true racing car.” The new Fiat 500 R3T is an exclusive race rally model which has been designed for “promotional rally” series. It is a highly modified version of Fiat 500 mini sedan which will be available only in the US and will be sold by Chrysler.

The Abarth 500 R3T has been designed to homologate to Group R3T touring car rules, which is for turbocharged vehicles with an engine smaller than 1.6-litres. The 500 uses a Garret GT 1446 fixed geometry turbocharged 1.4-litre engine, which produces 178bhp. The engine is companion to a six-speed sequential gearbox that features a twin-plate clutch and a self locking differential. Its suspension can be adjusted to a driver’s tastes.

The new model is also fitted with 17-inch OZ alloy wheels and new Brembo brakes are present behind the spokes. There are several rally safe features installed in the car which includes six-point safety harness and wielded roll bar. It also complies with the racing rules and has minimum un-laden weight of 1080kg.

The company will announce the racing schedule for the new Abarth R3T rally in next few weeks.
