Porsche Panamera – High Demand, Low Supply Chaos
Luxury car makers in India are definitely enjoying the booming auto industry. This segment may not deal in quantity but it surely does deal in quality. The luxury car makers are finding it tough to meet the demands of luxury car buyers starting with Porsche. The company fears that it may not be able to supply enough Panamera sedans in India due to “unanticipated rush”. The car carries a hefty price tag of Rs. 1.4- 2 crores.
Luxury cars are owned as a representation of owners lifestyle. Audi had already booked unexpected numbers of R8 even before the car was launched. Luxury car buyers in India do not mind writing off a fat cheque in order to make a statement in their elite circles. Similar story runs for Mercedes which already has received five confirmed bookings for its latest model Mercedes SLS-AMG which costs whopping Rs. 2 crore.
The luxury car buyers in India not only want to be the early birds but they also want their cars to be customized as per their needs. “This set of customers is demanding, and so we offer them the option of having a high-level of customisation. The cars can have special leather, distinct wood finishes, and exclusive emblem of the owners who may spend as much as Rs 30-40 lakh to tune the cars to their needs. At most times, they end up as architects of the car,’’ says Satya Bagla, whose company is the official importer of the Lamborghinis and the Bentleys to India.
These customizations include having your initials on the door sills, having seat belts as the same color as that of your car or a brand new music system that may cost up to Rs. 5.5 lakh. Porsche itself offers over 100 customizations to its customers.

A man can spend on himself any amount which is nothing compared to what he has spent on the betterment of people who really need for education, housing, etc. Then it will be really something to write about..
