Porsche Celebrates 100th Birth Anniversary of its Founder – Gallery

Porsche celebrated 100th birth anniversary of Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche Type 356 in the year 1948 as he could not buy sports car of his choice.

Porsche was a son of an automotive engineer and was popularly called “Ferry”. He started working as a constructor and engineer at the engineering office set up by his father in Stuttgart. He headed test driving for Porsche company and by June 1948 he launched Porsche Type 356 as his own sports car but the full production started only by 1950. He was awarded Business Medal for Outstanding Achievements in the Economy of Baden-Württemberg on 19 September from the Minister of Economic Affairs of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Martin Herzog.

He died on 27 March 1998 and shares his space at the European Automotive Hall of Fame with other auto giants like Carl Benz, Gottleib Daimler, Enzo Ferrari and Henry Ford.
