Peugeot to Decide on India by December This Year
Whether PSA Peugeot Citreon will enter India or not will be decided by the company by the end of this year. The company is Europe’s second largest car manufacturer and is mainly known for its luxury brands of car. According to the company officials, Peugeot is still assessing market feasibility and is slow in entering the Indian market due to global meltdown.

"We are assessing the Indian market now whether we will be present there or not. These are all speculations that we are launching our products. The decision is yet to be taken, which might happen by the end of this year," said a PSA Peugeot Citroen.
Peugeot is contemplating its options to enter not only the passenger vehicle market but also possibilities of setting up manufacturing unit in India. "We are also assessing the various opportunities offered by the country in terms of sourcing components," the official said. Peugeot had already made plans to set up its shop in India sometime back but the project has not kicked off as yet.

Hello! I am happy to know that you are a Peugeot owner and lover. They are such fantastic cars and the 309 is still a very relevant car for India, looking at the interior space, refinement and power of the engine, suspension and ride as well as handling. Its a pity that the car didn't succeed due to the bungling by PAL. If it had survived, we would have seen the car of choice in the fleet taxi market by now. A testimony to the importance of the car in the taxi market is the presence of a large number of 309s in Tamilnadu, especially in the Coimbatore - Salem - Chennai belt. I myself have had two Peugeots, a 1991 309 GLD and a 1994 405 GLD (both imports). Both diesels. I am still having the 405 with me and have thoroughly enjoyed both cars, including trips to Himachal and long distance trips like Jaipur - Kerala - Jaipur. If you need any advice / help with the 309, please contact me and I will be glad to help you. I am located in Jaipur and my email id is sasi405@yahoo.co.in .
