Official Pictures of Recently Launched new “Rolls Royce Ghost”

07 September, 2009, 10:10 IST by Satish Kalepu

The car costs £200000 (approx Rs. 1.6 crores) and its name is Rolls Royce Ghost. The company has finally released official pictures of the car and its technical details. It is the brand new saloon from luxury car maker Rolls Royce – though some might say it is more like an over-hauled version of BMW 7-series model.

The Ghost is powered by a direct injection 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 that produces 563bhp at 5250rpm. The engine drives the Ghost’s rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox, sending it from 0-60mph in just 4.7sec. “Buyers should find the Ghost a less intimidating car than the Phantom,” said Ian Cameron, Rolls Design Boss. “It’s not just smaller, but less formal,” he said.

Rolls Royce Ghost was first showcased at the Paris Auto Show 2006 and was defined as a small and affordable Rolls Royce. Given its price of nearly 1.60 crores, Rolls Royce would still look cheap to only a select few! Even so, Rolls Royce expects the Ghost to nearly step up the firm’s annual output two times to 2000 units from current 1000 units per year. It also expects 80 per cent of the Ghosts’s buyers to be new to the brand.
