No Yamaha RX100 for Indian Market but Only Better Quality Spares

17 February, 2010, 10:10 IST by Payal Pathak

Yamaha Motor Private Limited has denied launching its popular bike RX100 in the Indian market. "There are no plans on relaunching of RX100. We are monitoring the market of entry level segment bikes and will inform you about the new bike launches at appropriate time." He further stated, “We cannot launch the RX (100) with a two-stroke engine but we are working on a four-stroke version for the bike.”

Sources at Motoroids website claim that the company has no such moves planned for the Indian market. However, it also claims that spares of RX100 may definitely come back to the market. The existing owners of Yamaha RX100 can rejoice as better quality spares and accessories of the bike will be soon available in the market.

Yamaha RX 100 was launched by the company 11 years back in association with Escorts as a 98cc two-stroke engine bike. There were speculations in the market that the company may be re-launching the bike once again in the Indian market but the case does not seem to be true.

i want to this bike quickly...

Hi Guys Its nice to see that people are very eagerly waiting for relaunch of Yamaha RX 100(2 stroke bike). it was discontinued as the pollution norms progressively became more and more stringent which forced many manufacturers to stop production of 2 strokes as they didn't meet the pollution norms. even though it was launched with catalytic converter silencer that was the time I had bought my first Bike Nov 2001 model RX135 5 speed , I learned to ride motor cycle when i was 7th std
wth My dad's chetak scooter, we had hero puch also so it was so easy form that. Now its time for new 4 strokes,Have bought Yamaha FZ-S Nov 2011 but still I like my RX135 5S, where I'm all set to re-modify it to classic Yamaha Look

The Yamaha RX 100(2 stroke)bike's production run lasted from Nov 1985 – Mar 1996. Various modifications like expansion chambers, drum brakes and 5th gear.
The model was followed by the 11.8 bhp 132 cc RXG, which had a faulty ignition system, which was replaced by the company at no cost.
Next came the RX135, which was essentially a re badged RXG. The RXZ (12 bhp)was launched with a sportier headlamp fairing.
Finally, in the year 2000-2001 were launched the 14 bhp (10 kW) RX135 and the RXZ (Both 5-speed with a catalytic converter silencer). These met with lukewarm reaction.
Yamaha was Launched in indian market with its RD350 (RD stands for Race Derived) in 1983 I guess it was the only (super performance)bikes witch competed with 350cc Bullet, 250 CC JAWA(YEZDI) &175CC Rajdoot

Escorts Limited partnered with Yamaha Motor in 1983 to launch the "Rajdoot 350" a license produced Yamaha RD350B.

Yamaha RD350 launched first then 175 Then came RX100, Yamaha RD350HT( high torque) the fist bike to be launched and was delivered to Indian police and army persons as it was the simple and faster than350 cc bullet. But it resulted in lot accident's by the officers as they could not able handle the bike, only very less riders know how to ride bike properly Yamaha 350cc as the result It made Yamaha ot Launch another version of RD350 with LT( lower torque) that gave better mileage than the previous one between 10 to 25 Kmpl as per how the rider ride (still my Yamaha RX135 5S gives me 18 to 25 Kmpl (LOL) ) They had a compete with the lower end players like IND-SUZUKI (TVS) latter know as TVS-SUZUKI AX 100 bikes in market proved to that are more economically priced and cheaper to run. Thus launched the YAMAHA RX100 in late 1985 as there many more came into market latter like Baja Kawasaki KB100 RTZ and KB125 and Kawasaki KB100 RTZ Hero Honda CD 100 which was launched in the 1985 with the Tag line saying Fill it,Shut it, Foregt it" It was a Frustration for Yamaha RD350cc that promoted the bike with the line "For the few who dared to Dream and be different" but that's what happened literally in reality. in 1990 RD 350 was discontinued as more mileage given bikes launched that dented the RD's sales figures
Then to Yamaha continued to offer the RD LT. The RX100 was later launched in 1985 and it continued to sell better than the RD
Yamaha can Re-Lauch it RX100 and RD's 2 stroke bikes with the Gasoline Direct injection (GDi) engine.
It has substantially lower emissions than even alternate clean fuels like CNG and LPG. Additionally, it has lower operating costs than four stroke technology that currently dominates the bike market." According to sources in the automobile industry

Hope that yamaha may conseder this, Hope For the Best
Cheers Guys

I don't think yamaha will be able to reintroduce RX100 into the market again due to the stingent pollution norms So instead of that I wish let me atleast provide genuine spares for the existing customers.
