Fiat India Automobiles Limited is re-inventing its brand image in India. It intends to strengthen its presence in India especially with its strong and sturdy diesel engines. It recently flagged off “Fiat Diesel Drives India” where four of its models will traverse through diverse terrains of India spanning a distance of 10,000 kms in 16 states.

It was widely speculated that Fiat may enter the Ultra Low Cost car segment but it had denied any such plans. Fiat definitely intends to launch several small cars for the Indian market which may be especially tailor-made for the Indian buyers. It intends to strengthen its hold in the B-segment and will launch cars in the price range of Rs. 4-5 lakh. “We are developing different low cost cars, and one can be for launch in India. But it will be in the upper low cost segment, in the price range of Rs. 4-5 lakh.” However, we have no plans to enter the Nano segment,” said Silverio Bonfiglioli, COO, International Operations, Fiat group Automobiles S.p.A.

Fiat has its manufacturing unit at Ranjangaon which will be used to cater to demands from domestic market as well as global markets as well. By 2012-13, this plant will be an integral part of Fiats manufacturing footprints across the globe.
