No Car Recall in India - Honda

30 January, 2010, 10:10 IST by Payal Pathak

Honda stated that it will not recall Jazz in India. After Toyota, now Honda has started recalling its cars in various European countries. However, these cars are previous generation cars that are being sold in Europe. The cars in India are second generation cars that are not affected due to faulty auto components. "There won't be any impact on the recall in India because the Jazz that is being sold in India is a second generation vehicle, which is not a part of the global recall," a Honda Siel official said.

Honda has started recalling its Honda Jazz models after faulty windows switches were reported in the cars. There have been reports of faulty switches in Honda City models as well. Last year, fire broke out in a Honda car due to faulty windows switch where a child died in the mishap. Honda had recalled 646,000 cars of its Fit/Jazz model in North America, South America, Europe, South Africa and Asia, but not Japan. Honda said the recall was to fix a defective master switch, which could cause water to enter the power window switch and in some cases cause a fire.
