New Volkswagen Touareg to be Launched
Volkswagen will launch its new 2011 model of Touareg at the Geneva Auto Show next month. The new version is lighter and cleaner and sees Volkswagen bring a hybrid model for the first time. The new VW Touareg Hybrid has 3.3-litre supercharged V6 petrol engine producing 333 PS and an electric motor generating 47 PS, resulting in a total output of 380 PS.
The new model has been completely re-engineered. The complex dual range transfer case has been discarded and now comes as optional equipment. This has drastically reduced the weight of SUV by at least 181 kgs yet the body has 5 percent greater torsional rigidity.
The new range of engines is at least 20 percent more fuel efficient and the model comes with new safety systems as well. The car will be available in the European markets from April 2010.
