New Sedan from Honda in India

Honda Siel Cars India Limited introduced its new small car concept at the recent Delhi Auto Expo. The car is expected to enter the Indian market by 2011. Now the company is also planning to build a sedan model that will share its platform with the new small car from Honda.

The new sedan will be a mass-market compact car that will also be launched in India next year.

"There will be multiple models coming out of the small car platform after its launch in 2011. We will explore a sedan, too, using the same platform to make maximum use of our resources,” said Fumihiko Ike, chief operating officer of regional operations, Asia Oceania, Honda Motor Company. On the other hand such claims were denied by Honda’s official spokesperson who stated that any sedan models are still on the drawing boards of Honda.

Honda plans to introduce its new small car next year which will be a 5-seater hatchback model priced below Rs 5 lakh. it will have high level of localization content which may eventually lead India to become the global sourcing hub for Honda for its plants in Brazil, Russia and parts of Europe.
