New Porsche 911 Turbo

10 December, 2009, 10:10 IST by Satish Kalepu

Porsche introduced its updated GT3 RS and popular 911 Turbo model at the recent Los Angeles motor show. The new 2010 911 Turbo model is powered by larger 3.8-liter engine with direct-injection, making 500-hp. It is also equipped with overboost which is available in the optional Sport Chrono Pack. The new Porsche also features impressive 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. It is capable of reaching top speed of 312 kmph and clock 0- 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds.

The new 911 Turbo model is more fuel efficient than its predecessors delivering a mileage of 10.2 kmpl compared to 9.40 kmpl earlier. It also features new systems like Porsche Torque Vectoring system and updated versions of PTM and PSM systems. The new model is lighter than its earlier model. The twin-turbochargers in the new model are equipped with Porsche’s Variable Turbine Geometry, or VTG, technology. This technology uses moveable turbo vanes which adjust their angle to achieve an optimal air flow according to the flow rate of the engine’s exhaust gases.

Moreover, the model is also available for the first time with direct fuel injection which shoots fuel at extremely high pressure directly into the combustion chamber. This enhances its fuel economy and performance. The new Porsche Turbo is priced at approximately Rs. 78.00 lakhs and above in the UK market.
