New Models Coming from Volvo This Year

Volvo entered late in India and but has slew of launched planned for next few years to capitalize on the growing auto market in the country. This year it will introduce two new models – Volvo XC60 and S60 in India. While XC60 is the latest SUV from the luxury automaker, S60 will patronize the luxury sedan segment. Apart from introducing new models, the company is also planning to introduce the diesel variant of S80.

Volvo is currently not looking at sales volumes but is keener on its brand building and expanding its network base in the country. It is presently looking for dealers in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Goa and other important cities in India.

''There is still a large untapped demand for luxury cars in India,'' said Paul de Voijs, managing director of Volvo's India unit. ''I have seen people with 12 luxury cars in a family in India. It shows there is a lot of wealth and lot of possibility for further growth.'' According to De Voijs, Volvo has plans to start selling two new models in India before end of 2011, of which, one will start selling in the first half of this year.
