New Mercury Small Car in 2011 from Ford
Ford owns the Mercury brand of cars. The company lacks any sub-compact car model in its product portfolio especially in the US market. With the growing trend of buying small cars, Ford now intends to introduce a new small car in 2011 beginning from the US market. “The trend towards more fuel-efficient vehicles is very important, the trend toward (small) cars in general is coming back. We are responding to that,” said Ford spokesperson.
Mercury new small car will be one of the 10 models from Ford that the company intends to develop as a part of its global small car architecture. This new car would be based on their new global compact car platform. Some of the dealers believe that Ford may be rebadged Ford Focus or Mercury Tracer as a new small car and relaunched in 2011. A tweaked Ford Focus with a new design is expected to be a good catch for the US market.
Ford’s new Fiesta will also be available in the US market from late summer this year. Bookings open for all new Ford Fiesta from this week.
