New M&M Xylo Variant launched

28 December, 2009, 10:10 IST by Satish Kalepu

Mahindra and Mahindra launched a new variant of its SUV model Xylo in India. It launched Mahindra Xylo D2 in Delhi equipped with a new 2.5 litre mDI CRDe engine. The new variant will deliver mileage of 13kmpl along with excellent power and torque. The new model will be available with a price tag of Rs. 6.30 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.

“The XYLO D2’s mDI CRDe engine offers the best of both DI and CRDe technology. This includes greater fuel efficiency, lower maintenance and spare parts cost and decreased emissions and NVH levels. These advantages coupled with more power and torque and the XYLO’s value proposition of space and comfort, make the D2 ideal for long journeys,” said Vivek Nayer, senior vice-president, Marketing, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

The new engine is fully compliant with new BS III norms delivering 95 bhp with 215Nm of torque over a range of 1400 to 2600 rpm. It also features a five-speed manual gearbox and has been built on the Scorpio NEF CRDe engine family with relevant technological advancements. The new variant is available in three new colours - gold shimmer, mist silver and fiery black shades.

Clarified with another dealer. It is BSIII compliant and can be registered in Delhi NCR. Sorry for the confusion.

Today, I called up Mahindra dealer and enquired about Xylo D2 model. He told me that this new D2 model is BSII compliant and it cannot be registered in Delhi NCR. Is this true?? is it really BSII compliant?? But most of the news articles claim it to be BSIII compliant!
