New Hybrid TVS Scooty in India in 2010
TVS Motors is ready to roll out hybrid variant of its most popular scooter in India, TVS Scooty. TVS Motors is India’s second largest two-wheeler company and it showcased its hybrid variant at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010. "The company also plans to have a plug-in hybrid of the two-wheeler," a company official had said at the Auto Expo in New Delhi then.
The new hybrid model will come to the market by end of this year.
According to Financial Express, the new TVS Scooty will have a four-stroke engine and electric hub-motor which will be a parallel hybrid system and both modes will be available in the model. it will cover 30 kms on fully charged battery.
TVS Motors states that the hybrid model will have 30 percent less CO2 emission as well as 30 percent better fuel efficiency. In hybrid mode, with the petrol engine and electric motor working together, the scooter’s range will be much better.
