New Honda 110 cc Bike Not to Compete with Splendour and Passion
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Limited is ready to bring its new 110 cc bike in India. The company is launching its new 110cc bike today. It does not plan for the new model to compete with existing models of Hero Honda Splendour or Hero Honda Passion but instead it will create its own niche segment. HMSCI also has 26 percent stake in Hero Honda and the company does not want to create a competition for itself.
“We don’t expect competition with Hero Honda as a joint venture brand. I am not in a position to compete. Our position of new model introduction is to expand the market itself. I believe we can activate demand from youngsters with this 110cc motorcycle,” said Shinji Aoyama, president and CEO, HMSI.
The latest 110 cc bike from HMSCI will be priced at least 10 percent higher than Hero Honda Splendour and Passion. The Passion Pro costs around Rs 44, 000 and the Splendor around Rs 39,250 ex-showroom Delhi. Hero Honda Splendour is the largest selling single brand in a year with more than a million sales annually. Passion is also equally successful and both models together comprise of nearly 50-60 percent of the overall 3-4 million units sold by Honda in a year.
