Ford unveiled latest model of its small car Ford Focus at the Detroit Auto Show that began yesterday. The Dearborn, Mich. company introduced arguably the most talked about new car, the Ford Focus compact to lure the American customers asking for smaller car instead of their existing gas-guzzlers.
The New Ford Focus spearheads Ford’s new generation of global C-cars, based on a common platform that will underpin up to 10 vehicles around the world. Ford will begin production of its new cars simultaneously in Europe and the US in late 2010 for all the models that will go on sale in 2011. The new Ford Focus will be at least 80 percent same in all the markets which is Ford’s attempt to create a global car.

"The new Ford Focus is a clear demonstration that our ONE Ford strategy is providing global consumers with great products that harness the best of Ford Motor Company," said Alan Mulally, Ford’s president and CEO.
Ford also swept the auto show's two biggest awards: car of the year for its Ford Fusion hybrid mid-sized sedan and truck of the year for the Transit Connect commercial van.
