New Ford Focus Set to Dethrone Volkswagen Golf

Competition between the new Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf is fierce. An all new Ford Focus is set to arrive in showrooms by early 2011 which will compete head on with VW Golf which is one of the best selling cars in Western Europe. This model will also feature in the US market which will be unveiled later at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

The new Ford Focus will be a global model and will mark its presence in various countries across the globe. The new model will be sportier and coupe-like as compared to its current model. Ford has developed “an all-new global platform” and has recently revealed the new C-Max and 7-seater MPV at the Frankfurt Auto Show last month. The new Ford Focus will go on sale after these two models hit the market.

“The hatchback Focus will be relatively lower and sportier than the C-Max you saw at the Frankfurt show,” states Autocar. “The important point is that there will be much more differentiation in terms of the relative stance and the H-point between the hatches and C-Max than on the current models.” The new Focus will be powered by a new range of ‘Ecoboost’ downsized turbocharged petrol engines.

  • The Focus is supposed to be a great drivers car. Unfortunately Ford India think tank cant make up their minds to launch it in here. They should have done it ages back.Lets hope a new focus sedan is on its way here in early 2010.Why not a india launch ? Also ford needs to launch the new Fiesta saloon with a 1.6 D engine with all features in one go at the earliest. If so VW Polo will sweat it out.
