New Car Models Coming in 2009-2010
It’s the age of eco-cars and cars with enhanced safety features. Auto makers around the globe are addressing the rising demands for such cars. Mercedes has recently launched B-class Fuel Cell while Nissan has rolled out a new “Leaf”. Better mileage and safety features and are yet other features that consumers are asking for and Indian consumers are not far behind either.
Mitsubishi is ready to launch its 5-door hatchback model, Lancer Sportsback. It will come with two engine choices a 168-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder and a 237-horsepower, 2-liter, turbocharged four cylinder. Both front- and all-wheel drive are offered.
New Honda models including face-lifted models of Honda City and new Honda Civic are slated for a launch this year. Honda City is already India’s third most popular car but is being revised for being the best. New Nissan Teana, new X-Trail will be added to the Nissan portfolio in India. Teana will get a new advanced 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine code named VQ35DE and will be mated to the 4-speed automatic transmission. Another variant with a 2.5-litre engine may also be launched along with the 2009 Teana.
From the stable of Tata Motors, Indian consumers will be gifted with a new Indigo CS. A good sedan for those with limited budget geared towards young professionals and executives. Limited edition Indigo CS in White porcelain colour will be available soon in the Indian market.
Ford Endeavour automatic is slated for a launch next week which will take head on competition with recently launched Toyota Fortuner. One of the most awaited models of this year is new Maruti Swift that will come with new advanced K-series engine. It will also attract less excise duty so it is expected to be cheaper as well.
This month in September Indian luxury car buyers will also see a new Mercedes E-class being launched. The new edition is designed with a 3.5L Direct Injection Gas engine generating 292bhp. However the diesel version with 320 CDi engine will be launched later in this year. Finally, in the luxury car segment a new BMW 7 series is also slated for a launch that will be accompanied with latest technologies like Dynamic Damper Control and Integral Active Steering.
