New 2 Crore Sedan from Porsche India

Official distributors of Porsche cars in India, Precision Cars in Mumbai, stated that Porsche will introduce a luxury coupe Panamera in the first week of October in India. The car was earlier showcased at the Shanghai Motor Show in April, The front-engine and rear wheel drive (it also has a four-wheel option) is capable of reaching top speed of 303 km per hour and accelerate up to 100 km in just 4.2 seconds.

The car will be imported as a completely built unit which means it will attract high import duty and therefore it is expected to be priced at around Rs. 2 crores. Porsche has already received 13 bookings for Panamera and expects to make sale of at least 50 cars this fiscal. "There is great expectation from Panamera in India and it will hit the market on October 6. The demand for sporty cars is already on the rise and customers are looking at the latest models," MD of Precision Cars India, Rod Wallace said.

The entry-level Panamera S is powered by a 4.8-litre V8 developing maximum output of 400bhp. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels as an option by Porsche’s seven-speed Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) or double-clutch gearbox. Acceleration to 100km/h comes in 5.4 seconds, top speed is 283km/h.
